DYI decorative tape

The other night while working in my art journal I finished one of my favorite rolls of decorative masking tape. It was a replica of vintage ledger paper. I loved that tape. Unfortunately, the company who makes it sells it in a pack with two other tapes which I don't like. So I wind up paying 6$ for one roll of tape. Ugh.

I got to thinking, why couldn't I just make my own? I have increditape and I have vintage ledger paper. So I set about making my own. I thought I'd post a little walkthrough of what I did.

What you'll need for this project: A paper-cutter, increditape--3/4 width, vintage papers.
To start off, trim your papers down to 3/4 width. You'll have a bunch of strips--it's ok if they're short we can put more than one on a roll to create a longer piece.
Now, start unrolling your tape. You just want to unroll a small bit to start off with. make sure it's lined up straight. Then, carefully unroll and stick as you go:
Once you've got your first strip attached, you have 2 choices, you can either snip it off and have a short piece or lay another strip on so that you create a longer piece. I chose to do the later. Here is a photo of one of my long strips of covered tape:
The great thing about the increditape is that it has a nice smooth backing, so when you're done it can be rolled up and saved for use on a future project.
All told it took me about 30 minutes to do these three rolls. Not bad for some custom tape. Now I never have to worry about running out of my favorite supplies while working on my art journal!

If you're interested in making your own, you can buy the increditape here.
