Julie Fei-Fan Balzer is an old friend of mine. We actually met while going through Ranger U together. I was fortunate enough to be seated by her and was pleasently surprised to find a kindred spirit. We share similar tastes in books and a similar penchant for creative swearing.
Besides being a fun lady, she is also incrediably tallented and I was honored when she asked me to participate in a blog hop celebrating her new stencil line for Crafter's Workshop.
She let me pick two different days to participate, so this post is the first of two--the second one will go live in November.
I selected her rain and cloud stencils for this first hop. Here is a picture of what they look like:
Pretty cool, right? What was even cooler is that Julie kindly sent them to me in 2 different sizes, which was lucky since the journal I'm curently working in is too small for the large 12x12 size.
Here is the spread in my art journal that I created:

I've been playing around with a new technique combining acrylic paint and my copic re-inkers. I thought this would be a good stencil to do a test run of it with. I'm not 100% there yet....although its really close. That's the problem with developing new techniques, it's a lot of try & re-try. But I do like the look of the page. I airbrushed another crafter's workshop stencil along the bottom, which is actually my faux Washi-tape (which you can read my tutorial about creating it here) which I then layered on some vintage paper. The tape is translucent, so you get a nice hazy view of what ever is behind it. I added in some doodles and the text, which is by William Carlos Williams. It reads: "As the rain falls so does your love...."
So now that you've seen my page, you should check out the work by the other really amazing artists participating in this hop. There's a button on the side of my blog that will take you to the other posts. What are you waiting for?? Go look at some art!
